Fun rings to make, wear and share. Make a special fun ring for Valentines Day, St. Patty's Day, 4th of July , a special Birthday or just because. The charms you design to dangle from the ring give it a one of a kind fun look. Make one charm for each ring or more….simply charming!

Materials Needed:
  • Ring & Charms template - Click Here For Traceable Pattern.
  • Shrinky Dinks Misty White shrinkable plastic - Item D700-6A.
  • 6 mm Jump Rings (2 for each ring).
  • Permanent Ink Pen – Black – Item D835.
  • ¼" Hole Punch - Item D842.
  • #2 Pencil for tracing.
  • ⅝" – ¾" Wooden Dowel (cut to a 4" length).
  • Paint Markers (Item SAKFINE), Permanent Markers or Gelly Roll Pens.
  • Scissors and Tape.
  • Needle Nose Pliers.
  • Toaster Oven or Home Oven.

How To Make

1.  Lay Shrinky Dinks sheet over the ring and charm patterns and tape into place. Trace the patterns using the Permapaque Markers, pencil or permanent ink pen.
2. Turn your charm pieces over and color the opposite side with the same design, a completely different design, a solid color or write a special message..
3. Cut out the ring strip and the charm. Punch holes where indicated on all the patterns with the ¼" hole punch. .
4. Bake the ring shape first colored side down. Follow package instructions for baking. Note: Have your wooden dowel ready to use.
5. Remove paper or foil from tray. Place on flat surface. Place dowel at one end of the ring. Hold and roll plastic around dowel (You have about 15-20 seconds) When cool, slide off dowel stick Note: When shaping the smaller ring, slip the ring off the end of the dowel and hold ring ends together. DO NOT WRAP THE HOT PLASTIC AROUND YOUR FINGER!!!
6. Bake the Charms following package instructions.
7. Test fit the ring…if its too small or too large, place the ring into the oven on the baking sheet and allow it to soften. Try wrapping the piece around the dowel until the desired size is achieved. (If you don't have a wooden dowel the same size as your finger, use the handle of a wooden spoon very tightly formed with aluminum foil.
8. Color the edges of your ring and charms with the paint marker…match or use another color to make your design stand out.
9. Twist the jump ring and feed one end through the hole coming through the other hole with the same end. Secure the ring shape with the pliers.
10. Twist the second jump ring and feed one end through the charm and then the jump ring that is attached to the ring to make your charm dangle freely..

The larger ring pattern will make a ring about a size 7 to 9 depending on the gap you leave at the bottom. The smaller ring will fit about a 4 to 6. Adjust as needed.

Variation: We recommend using our Misty White Ultra Thick plastic for the ring, but you can use any of our plastics to make an endless number of charms. Attach as many charms as you like to your one of a kind Charming Ring Thing.
