FOOT FADS

Summer fun is finally here! Why not make your Sandals and/or Tennis Shoes into “Originals” ! There are so many ways that you can personalize popular footwear with Shrinky Dinks Foot Fads…we are sharing a couple of concepts that are our favorites. They can be personalized and are so FUN and EZ to make!

MATERIALS NEEDED:

 

OPTION 1: (Concept…Trace or Create, Color, Cut Out, etc.)

Materials Needed: 

  • Shrinky Dinks Frosted Ruff N’ Ready Shrinkable Plastic (Item D100-10A)
  • Identi-Pen Permanent Ink Pen - Black (D835)
  • Permapaque Paint Markers (Item SAKFINE)
  • Patterns in Shrinky Dinks Charmers Book (Item CHARMS)

 

OPTION 2: (Concept…Photos)

Materials Needed: 

  • Shrinky Dinks for Ink Jet Printers (Item D600-6A)
  • Wallet size or snapshot Photos
  • Circle Template – 2”
  • Standard No. 2 pencil
  • Scanner or Digital Images, Computer & Ink Jet Printer

 

 

OPTIONS 1 & 2:

  • 1/8” Paper Punch (Item D840)
  • Large Jump Rings – 12mm (Item 870)
  • Pony Beads – 3x5mm –  (Item 872M) Metallic  or (Item 871P) Opaque
  • Clear Embossing Powder – Fine (Item FEMBP)
  • Button Fasteners with Shank (Item 875) – For Sandals with holes only.

·     Manicure or small Scissors, Toothpick

  • Home Oven or Toaster Oven

 

HOW TO MAKE

 

OPTION 1:

 

  1. Select a Charm pattern from the Charmers Book (Item CHARMS).  Trace on roughened side of Shrinky Dinks plastic with Black pen.
  2. Color in with Paint Markers.
  3. Cut out with scissors.
  4. Punch out a hole in each Shrinky Dinks piece.
  5. Bake to shrink.  (Follow package directions.)  Hold flat until cool.

 

OPTION 2:

 

1.      Scan in wallet sized photos or digital snapshots into your computer. 

(Follow package instructions.)

2.      Create a layout to accommodate several photos for an 8” x 10” sheet.

3.      Print selected photos onto Shrinky Dinks Ink Jet shrinkable plastic.

4.      Position your 2” circle template over each photo.  Draw circles with a pencil.

5.      Cut out your photos and punch out holes in each Shrinky Dinks piece.

6.      Bake to shrink (Follow package instructions.)  Hold flat until cool.

 

OPTIONS 1 & 2:

Place each Shrinky Dinks Foot Fads charm on a piece of paper, design or photo side up. Cover each shrunk Shrinky Dinks piece with Embossing Powder so that the image is barely visible.  Place the sheet of paper with the powdered pieces on a cookie sheet and insert into your preheated oven.  Watch!  Embossing powder will melt and become clear.  Remove baking sheet from the oven.  DO NOT TOUCH THE PIECES UNTIL COMPLETELY COOLED…at least 5 minutes.  Insert the tip of your Manicure Scissors into each hole…twist to enlarge and clean out each hole.

 

 

ASSEMBLING YOUR FOOT FAD CHARMS ON SANDALS AND/OR TENNIS SHOES

 

SANDALS WITH HOLES

1.      For each Decoration, insert a Button Fastener (Item 875) from the underneath side of the sandal…the shank of the button upward through the hole.

2.      Twist open a Jump Ring – top side - Insert through the shank of the Button and  slide one Shrinky Dinks piece on to the Jump Ring.

3.      Slide 4 Pony Beads onto the Jump Ring. Twist Jump Ring back to close.

 

ANY LACED SHOES

1.      Twist open a Jump Ring and insert it through the shoe lace.  Add a Shrinky Dinks Foot Fad Charm and 4 Pony Beads on to the Jump Ring.  Twist jump ring to close.

 

Shrinky Dinks Foot Fad Charms can be attached ANYWHERE!  Loop on jeans, purses, back packs, swim bags, etc.  Share the fun with others and be Creative!  Any graphic or photo can be transformed into a customized Deco Charm!!  WOW…that’s AMAZING!
