Materials Needed Ø 7 ½” x 4 ½” Card Stock – Outer Card Ø 7” x 4” Card stock – Inner Card Ø Shrinky Dinks Ink Jet Plastic - (Item D600-6A) Ø Self Adhesive Magnet strip (Item D850) Ø Ink Jet Printer / Photo Processing Program Ø Krylon Clear Acrylic Spray Ø Glue Stick - Glue Dots – Scissors – Gel Pens – Stick on Gems Ø Optional: Rubber Stamp with Greeting (Happy Birthday, Anniversary, You’re Invited, Surprise…etc.) How to Make Using your choice of photo, resize and adjust it to print onto a 5 x 7 inch area on the Shrinky Dinks Ink Jet sheet. Making sure the photo is that size will insure that it will fit into the card dimensions listed above Print your image onto the Shrinky Dinks Ink Jet sheet following the package instructions. Carefully cut out your image and bake to shrink. Be sure your Shrinky Dinks piece is flat, and allow your image to cool completely. Seal with the recommended sealer and allow it to dry completely. Stick the magnet to the back of your Shrinky Dinks. Assemble your Card: Fold Inner and Outer Card stock in half. Place smaller card inside larger one. Be sure that everything is straight and that there is about ¼ inch visible around the smaller card. Make two 1 inch cuts ( cut line) in the exact center of the smaller card. Do not cut the larger card…see example below. Your cuts should be 1 inch long (Fig 1)  Open the card and pop the tab outward. Glue the smaller card to the inside of the larger card. (Fig. 2) Don’t glue the tab…this is the area that you will adhere the Shrinky Dinks pop-up.  Now is the time to decorate your card. Use a rubber stamp to relay your sentiment/message. Use Gel Pens to add dimensional writing or add dimension to the stamped image. Use stick on gems to add sparkle. When you are finished decorating your card inside and out…its time to place your Shrinky Dinks piece. Place two glue dots on the tab (see diagram ) and then position your Shrinky Dinks piece against the glue dots to adhere. Close the card and reopen to be sure that your Shrinky Dinks piece does not interfere with the card opening. This card can be personalized in any one of 1000 ways. Make a photo Pin. Kids can make a Christmas Ornament using the Frosted Ruff N’ Ready using their own design and the card format for this project. The greeting possibilities are LIMITLESS! |
